Town halls across the country

August 31st, 2009

Wanna know what’s going on in Town Hall meetings across the country?
Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-MN was talking about the news reports coming out of the UK of women giving birth in the hallways because they don’t have room in the hospitals. “That happens here” shouted a heckler insistently. “I’ve given birth here probably [...]

See for yourself

August 30th, 2009

Congressman Chaffetz reads right out of the bill the section of proposed code that says that docs shall discuss end-of-life options with their senior citizen clients every 5 years. One liberal keeps shouting “It’s a draft, not a bill” – nope – it’s a bill that’s already been passed out of committee…

Chaffetz gets fired up

August 30th, 2009

Congressman Chaffetz telling town hall protesters to hold Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and Barack Obama to the same standard they hammered George W Bush on. “You won’t do it”, he says. See the National Debt Roadtrip video for a reminder of the difference in speed we are talking about.

Town hall meetings

August 30th, 2009

Unlike their Democrat counter-part, both Rep. Bishop and Rep Chaffetz are holding town hall meetings. I attended Congressman Chaffetz’ town hall in South Jordan on Wednesday night. Like the one in Provo the night before, hundreds of people were packed in, standing along the walls, sitting on the floors and squished into overflow [...]

Who's minding the store?

August 25th, 2009

Apparently no one…..watch as Rep. Alan Grayson asks the Federal Reserve Inspector General about the trillions of dollars lent or spent by the Federal Reserve and where it went, and the trillions of off balance sheet obligations. Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman responds that the IG does not know and is not tracking where this money [...]

Town Hall Meeting in Washington state

August 25th, 2009

A disabled Marine vet lets his Congressman have it. Congressman Baird (D-WA), before this town hall meeting, told a member of the media that he thought the town hall meetings across the country were being disrupted by “brown shirt”
tactics and a “lynch mob” atmosphere.

National debt road trip

August 25th, 2009

(Just an fyi – just 3 days ago the White House released a statement that they “underestimated” the deficit by 2 trillion dollars.  That’s $50 BILLION a year in interest payment alone….)

"I will vote against the interests of my district"

August 18th, 2009

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY), stated that he represents one of the “most right-wing districts” in the US.  He was elected by a slim 2% margin (how did that happen?!).  He now openly says that he will vote against the interests of his district.  Can anyone say “Seat for grabs” in 2010?

Live Blogging from the Inauguration

August 11th, 2009

Sitting in the Capitol Rotunda watching the last hour of prep work. K9 units have gone through, paying special attention to the press area. Wonder what that means?!
Sound checks, choir practice, lots of politicos working the crowd. I might just mention that the rotunda is not known for it’s great acoustics.

August 10th, 2009

After weeks of speculation and in the end, surprising no one, soon-to-be governor Gary Herbert announced today that he had chosen state Senator Greg Bell, of Fruit Heights, to be his new lieutenant governor.
Quipping that “I have had a lot of counsel and advice – a lot of it unsolicited“, Herbert went on to [...]
